What an awful disaster, my heart goes out to all the families. I know none of the people but I live just down the road from there and feel the sorrow. The disaster is on everyones lips as everyone seems to know a miner or where even one themselves in the day, many years ago when the Neath and Swansea valleys were riddled with pits.
I cannot imagine working in those conditions.
Neath MP Peter Hain has called on people to support the families following the tragedy in the mine in Cilybebyll, near Pontardawe in the Swansea Valley and said a lot of people in the area have got together to launch a Swansea miners appeal fund.”
The appeal fund website can be found at http://www.minersappealfund.org/
